Neutrogena Lip Moisturizer with sunscreen SPF 15 - A Must avoid Lip Balm

While buying a lip balm or any beauty products, its necessary to do a through research on the ingredients added in the product. Recently I happened to purchase Neutrogena Lip Moisturizer and was shocked to see a warning message on the product."If swallowed, contact Poison Control Center right away”

Of course, no one will be hungry enough or crazy to sallow a lip balm. But there are higher chances of ingesting a bit of balm while drinking water or eating something. I was concerned about this warning factor and hence I dig further to find the ingredients added.

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Lip Moisture:
Ingredients: Octinoxate 7.5% Oxybenzone 4%, Castor (Ricinus Communis) Seed Oil, Corn (Zea Mays) Oil, Ozokerite, Petrolatum, Beeswax, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Paraffin, Stearyl Alcohol, Carnauba (Copernicia Cerifera) Wax, BHT.

In any lip Balm,  the below ingredients has to be avoided.
  • Parabens

  • Mineral Oil
  • Octinoxate
  • Oxybenzone

If you could see, there are 3 dangerous Ingredients Octinoxate, Oxybenzone and Petrolatum added to the product and hence this lip balm should be avoided.

  1. Hi! I did not know that lip balms could even be harmful if swallowed. I will be careful while buying lip balms from now on. It is true that beauty products should be thoroughly checked before any purchase. They can contain dangerous chemicals that harm our skin.
