Flipkart IndiBlogger meet Bangalore

Flipkart IndiBlogger meet

Adventures in Wonderland

The sky was the bluest of blue that I had ever seen and the grass was the greenest of green. There were strawberry creepers all around the footpath I was walking on and I could see chocolates hanging from the trees in shiny wrappers.

I was staring in amazement; when suddenly, a white rabbit, dressed in striped waistcoat and black pants, ran past me. He was muttering to himself, “Oh dear. Oh dear. I shall be late!” Burning with curiosity, I started running after him.

The rabbit was way ahead of me and soon, I lost him. There was an intersection of two roads in front of me and I didn’t know which way he went.

I was looking around when I saw a huge mushroom growing, on the field on my right side. I stood on my tiptoe and peeped on the top of the mushroom. There, I saw a big caterpillar smoking a hookah.
“What are you doing here?” said the caterpillar.
“I was running after a white rabbit. If you saw him, can you please tell me where he went?”
“Oh yes, I know where he went. But I will tell you about something else first” said the caterpillar.
“Okay”, I said hesitatingly.
“You gotta fight
For your right
To Party…
You gotta fight
For your right
To Party...
Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarty....
Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarty....”

The caterpillar began to sing a song from Beastie-boy. I had no mood to listen to it, hence I made a move.
Partieeeeeeeeeeee...
“Wait. I have fascinating news to share with. The most thrilled Flipkart IndiBlogger meet happened in Hard Rock Cafe Bangalore last Saturday. It began with a small presentation by Flipkart that beautifully conveyed the need for the ‘Image search’ feature on its mobile app. That video enlightened the mood of all the bloggers. Yet, to make it more memorable for the bloggers who made it to the meet on time that too on a Saturday early morning, the Indiblogger guys played  “You Gotta Fight For Your Right” and “Love yourself'".....
“Hey wait. Bloggers meet? Flipkart? Image search feature? Hard rock café? I am a blogger too. How did I miss that?” I interrupted the caterpillar.
Yes, it’s an event only for the bloggers with a special invite. That’s the trending news among the bloggers now”
“Trending topic?Which one? Image search!? or Bloggers meet!?”
"Both." Here, the caterpillar stopped, smoked for some time and said, “Now, find the cat.”

“Cat? I am trying to find a rabbit, not a cat. And you said you knew where the rabbit went. Above all, my curiosity arose now. Tell me what happened in the Flipkart IndiBloggers meet”, I said angrily.
“Keep your temper and find the cat” said the caterpillar. And I couldn’t get anything else out of him.
So, I looked around and found some cat paw prints and started following the track. It led me to a big tree. I looked up the tree and there, on one of the branches, a Cheshire cat with a big grin started appearing slowly out of thin air.
“How are you getting on?” said the cat with the big grin.
“I was running after a rabbit. If you saw a rabbit passed by, can you please tell me where he went?” I asked.
“I did and I shall” said the cat. “But first, I will tell you about an extempore game that was played in the bloggers meet last Saturday. After the stupendous drinks, the bloggers were divided into a team and was assigned with an “Image search” task. Two people from each team have to volunteer for captain and Vice-captain. Each team has to come up with an innovative name for their teams. I remember the teams naming, "Vyapam", “FlikRock” i.e a portmanteau of blending the words Flipkart and Hard rock cafe.

Cheerful bloggers...

The game goes like this.. The bloggers have to go around and click a picture of other bloggers fashion accessories on their mobile. It could be anything but related to fashion category like belts, handbags, tops, shoes, earrings. This new image search feature had amazingly displayed the similar product in the Flipkart App.

The team who finds the maximum products within 10 minutes with the same color, pattern or style would be declared as the winner. Team 5 with a maximum of 32 exact match has won the game. There is no chance of cheating/bribing/corruption here since the results were cross checked by the Flipkart team.

Best tweet contest were happening simultaneously and the tweets of all the bloggers were projected in a big screen. The best tweets grabbed Flipkart vouchers too.

The Big Screen that displayed the Bloggers tweets...

Then, a song began to play loudly and the Hard Rock Cafe's staff start to dance and it mesmerized the entire bloggers.

All the bloggers were then cheered with a photo session and an autographed copy of "Ten Love Stories: An IndiBlogger Selection"  a book which is a collection of short stories of some of the best writers registered on the IndiBlogger platform."

After completing his story, the cat started disappearing; his grin remained visible for a second longer than his body.
“Oh, this is just getting curious and curious’er!” I cried out in surprise.
Suddenly, someone shouted behind me. “There is that cat! Off with his head! Off with his head!”
I looked back and saw the Queen of Hearts running towards me, or rather the disappearing cat, and her soldiers of Hearts were following suit.
The Queen of Hearts, who had stopped running and was standing next to me, said, “Who are these awful Oompa Loompas? Off with their heads!”
“Hey, you can’t do that. Oompa Loompas are not awful. They are very nice little people in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory” I said.
After hearing what I said, the Queen first blinked in disbelief that someone could talk back at her like that and became so angry that I could almost see a vein throbbing in her paper face.
“Soldiers, arrest her! Off with her head!” shouted the Queen, pointing her flat finger at me.
The soldiers charged towards me but I stood my ground.
“I am not afraid of you. You are just pack of cards” I said swinging my hands around at them.
Then, my right hand hit the wall at the side of my bed and I woke up. My phone alarm was ringing
“You gotta fight
For your right
To Party…
You gotta fight
For your right
To Party...
Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarty....
Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarty....”

I hit the alarm and it hurt to think that it was a dream. Hey WAIT!!!
I found "Ten Love Stories: An IndiBlogger Selection"  book on my bed next to the teddy bear. I realized I dozed off last night reading the book. Indiblogger can make the dream of bloggers come true!!! I reminisced the past Indibloggers meet that happened in the luxurious places like Hard Rock cafe, Big Pitcher, The Zuri, ITC Gardenia......
I thanked Indiblogger and Flipkart gratefully for making another memorable event. I washed my face and opened my blog to pen my Flipkart Indiblogger experience.

Hell Yeah!!!

The Sound of Heart beat - chapter 3

Meghna woke up to the aroma smell of a freshly-brewed coffee and the scorching sun rays that fall on her face peeing through her bed room window. She realized that her laptop was still on with Facebook opened in the browser. She had slept off in the study table itself.

Friend’s sometimes (or most of the times?) offers the worst idea in the world. Shiva suggested her to search Karthik in Facebook adding a bullshit point that even a newborn baby whose name has not decided yet has a Facebook page and twitter account. Though we scream that technology has dumped face-to-face interactions, it’s also true that with these technologies one can find and get information about any person under the sun. This idea cost her entire night. Karthik is not a rare name to be found easily on the Facebook. The moment she typed Karthik in Facebook search and hit enter, it listed 10 karthik profiles that was associated with her friends list itself. Out of 2 Tamil movies, one movie will definitely have the hero name as Karthik.
“Is Karthik such a common name?” She bit her nail and continued browsing the profiles.
“Karthik or Karthick? How does he write his name?” She has to browse thousands of profiles only to realize that few people even spell it as Kartik.
Karthik, Karthick, Kartik..
Is she going to find him in Facebook without knowing the proper spelling of his name or the Surname and not even one common friend.? We all know, it’s highly impossible, but people in love are driven in those fantasy worlds which according to them are "If you really love a person, universe will help in conquering.” Their mind just revolves around with such high positivity. Even if someone says, Karthik must have called off the marriage as he would be in some relationship, her mind would say, a big NO!!!. When they are in love, they believe that their body survives due to loveabolism and not because of metabolism.
To some extent, it’s true as well. Since after the call-off incident, Meghna was unable to concentrate on anything. She had a long hot soak. The prospect of finding Karthik in a social setting filled her with a sense of tremor of excitement and kicked off her metabolism. But the entire night search did not help her in finding him out. She felt void and null. Meanwhile, Meghna's mom entered her room with coffee and Meghna closed the laptop with a slight disappointed.
"What a surprise!? Did you take any oath that you will follow good habits or was it my dream?" Her mother got excited as soon as she observed the bed sheets neatly folded in her room.
"Ma, I just slept off in the table itself" Meghna replied and want to brush her teeth.
"Hmm..I know, how I could expect good habits from you... Anyway don’t forget to return early from office today. We have to attend Narmadha aunt daughter marriage." Her mom reminded her again.
"Okay Mom. You told me enough times" she brushed her teeth with dismay. All of a sudden her face lighted up with a bright idea.
She rushed towards her laptop with white foam bubbles around in her mouth and opened the Facebook to search "Divya Bharathi"
It’s in the wedding of Divya Bharathi, Karthik's mother saw Meghna. She gave her a friend request and started scrutinizing Divya Bharathi’s friends list.

"Found my man. :) " she messaged Shiva in What’s app.
Karthik?
It’s not Karthik. It’s Karthick. That’s how he writes his name :)
uff...okay Karthick...so did you message him?
No..I did even send him friend request
Y?
He may think, I purposefully searched for his profile
So, What’s ur plan then?
Planning to Join Stepz dance institute.
gonna impress him with a dance?
Ufff. Bad joke. .From one of his photos I observed that he is going to that Stepz dance institute. Actually, he works at Amazon. definitely, I can’t clear Amazon recruitment process :P and get into Amazon. But dance class, I think I can.
Oh..I c...so, u are gonna make a scene that, you are naturally meeting him at the dance class.
of course yes!
Handle it carefully. One wrong move and it can slip, slicing the relationship.
Shiva gave another warning before they end up the chat.

The rules of a relationship are simple.
If you like them…let them know...
If they say no… let them go...
People think the former is easy and the later is tough. But the truth is later might be easy but the most difficult part is letting the person you love them. Will Meghan succeed?

Balanced Diet with Dabur honey

The freezing chilly air smashed my face. I got up from my bed with my eyes closed to close the window. I hit the bed again and covered my face with thick blanket. After a while, the alarm in my mobile phone buzzed as it hit my jogging time. I cancelled the alarm, and went back to deep sleep again. I don’t want to snooze it once more and disturb my peaceful sleep that I was enjoying with the cold weather. Bangalore is known for pleasant climate, and I love it more during the Winter Season.

The fog at early morning not only freezes the trees and plants, but it also freeze a person. During winter, getting up early and going for a jog really requires courage and determination.  Chill climate not only make me lazy. It makes me fatty as well. Yes I skip jogging and exercise, since I fail to compete with chill weather.

After a week or so, I could sense my dress becoming so tight. But I am always a positive person and tend to conclude my dresses have become short (IS IT!) rather than accepting the fact that I had become fat.  Well, I do have logic for it. When you keep washing your dress, there are chances of dress getting shrink.

Then I realize my friend passing on comment’s that I have become fat.  These are the side effects of skipping jogging. Then again I take a resolution that I would reduce my weight in one week. But the winter soothes me with freezing cold which tend me to skip jogging and exercise.

Exercise during winter is never my cup of tea. The other possible option to reduce weight was to skip foods and eat less which was very dangerous. When it comes to weight loss, I really don’t care about side effects and tend to skip meals. About a week later, I start carving for all junk foods and eat more. Result double the amount of fat gets stored in my body. This story sound similar to you?

So what is the best likely way to have a balanced healthy diet even when you don’t do any physical exercise?
Here are my few tips to maintain a balance diet.

  • Honey Diet - As soon as you wake up in the morning, the first and the best thing to kick start your engine or metabolism is to drink one glass of water along with honey. Research says that this is one of the best techniques for weight management as well as best way to start your day.
  • Divide your meals into 6 smaller portions - These helps in not only eating nutritious food but also helps you from not starving.
  • Replace Sugar with Dabur Honey - Sugar is the best enemy for metabolism. Consuming Sugar will affect the metabolism and it’s a bad agent for burning the calories. In fact it burns glucose rather than burning the fat.
  • Recently I came across the Dabur honey website and in just 3 clicks; you can get the diet planner Dabur honey.
  • Still have quires, You can check with an Expert or Dietitian here - http://www.daburhoney.com/login.aspx

Surf it All! Surf it Fast! UC Cricket

"What's up in 10 days?" My friend dropped a message in what’s app after seeing my status "10 days to go. . ." in Whats App.
"Well. Any guesses?" I texted him back with a curiosity of knowing what's running in other people's mind.
"Are you going to get married?”
"No" I replied him with a smiley that represents distorted mouth.
"Then running away with boyfriend?" He texted back. He is known for placing me under embarrassment.
":-X" I replied back with a smiley and desperately want him to stop further guesses. So I replied him immediately, “I am going for a 10 day Himalayan Trekking 0:-)  "
“Wow. That’s great. Then what about cricket? The World cup is scheduled during the same period. I am sure you are going to miss the fun.”

Oh god! How did I forget that? I am a big cricket freak and never miss cricket. In fact, I snoop the highlights of the match with the same curiosity and react as If I was watching for the first time. I remember, during our college day’s cricket was displayed in the TV at a showroom. Just to watch cricket, I stood in front of that TV showroom ignoring the heavy rain and thunder. I am not a cricket freak, I am a cricket insane!!!
My Himalayan trekking was equally my passion and I was planning for the trip from the past 3 years. My heart says, Cancel the Himalayan trip and stay at your home to watch cricket. But my mind calculated the cost that was involved for planning the trip. Flight tights, accommodation cost and the travel purchase made for the trip altogether cost me around 50,000 rupees. My mind did not let me to cancel the trip. At the same time, I don’t want to miss the cricket. Convincing my mind that I have a data connection, I replied my friend, “I have internet connection. I can google to check the scores"
“You don’t have UC Browser?replied my friend surprised.
You see Browser? What’s that?”
“Not you see lady. UC Browser. It’s the best popular mobile internet browser and suggested for UC Cricket.”
“Is that Mobile software available for Symbian?” I placed my problem of using Nokia Asha 302 phone. Few interesting apps never support Symbian.
“Yes, it’s available for Symbian, iPhone, Android and even for brew Operating System. “

“Wow. But, why should I use that software?”

“You can download as much as videos you want simultaneously. This browser offers cloud storage option. You have an option to save the videos either in the mobile or in the cloud. Above all, the download speed is amazing and seamless.”

On listening to the features of UC Browser like Fixture and Result, instant notifications and live updates, I downloaded the UC Browser and used it during my 10 day Himalayan trekking.
Here is my blissful experience about UC Browser that helped me to stay linked with the cricket during my trekking exploration.

  • Performance - During my travel especially inside the forest places where the internet connection is very slow, the UC Browser has the capacity to load the page according to the strength of the internet connection. UC has "incognito mode". So, the browsing history is not captured.
  • Features: I simply loved the "night mode" option. During camping, where there are no lights, browsing would consume more light and battery. Whereas, these night mode helps a lot for browsing in the dark. Live Scores of the matches along with auto update makes me go crazy.

The Sound of Heart beat - chapter 2

"Meghna... I want to call off our marriage..."
Her thoughts were interrupted by her mother yelling out her name.
"Shiva has come to meet you". Her mother repeated from kitchen second time.
"Send him to my room mom", Meghna replied her mother and went to wash her face.
"What happened?" Shiva asked looking straight into her eyes.
"What?... What happened?" Meghna tried to hide her emotions. But Shiva was a best buddy from childhood. He can easily search and find the emotions that were hidden behind her eyes. Even Meghna wanted to exhaust all her thoughts that were bothering since a longtime.

"I think... hmmm....I think.. I like a..no. I love a person." The emotions made her to stutter.
"Please don’t say, you love me" Shiva spontaneously replied and winked.
"You..?!" she took the pillow that was on the bed and hit him hard.
"Stop beating our guest” Her mother entered the room with 2 cups of coffee.
“Aunty from when I turned out to be your guest?”
“If you are not visiting the house frequently, you will be de-promoted from son to guest.”
“Sorry Aunty. Lots of work. Could not manage time to visit your home” He said sipping the coffee.

Meghna's parents always treated him as their own child and with great kindness. Once her mother left the room, Shiva asked seriously.
"Who is that guy?"
After a long pause Meghna replied, "Karthik"
"Which Karthik? Our college mate Karthik? Or… Indian playback singer Karthik?
"I should have requested my mom to mix poison in coffee instead of sugar" Meghna scowled at him with an annoyed look.
He smiled and continued, “I knew all of your friends. Who is this new entry?"
☕.☕.☕.
Meghna was stubborn that her wedding should be decided based on the character and not on personality of the bride or groom. She never encouraged exchanging the photos. Karthik's mother saw Meghna at some relative's wedding and expressed  her interest for her son to Meghna's mother. The horoscope match was indeed a positive sign and hence Meghna's parents agreed for the bride seeing ceremony.

On the other side, Karthik who was against the marriage, especially the arranged ones was brought to Meghna's house with some cooked up stories. He was totally unaware of the situation. When Meghna offered him coffee and Meghna's parents teased him to look at the bride carefully, he was totally thunderstruck and was angry with his mother for putting him at such an embarrassing moment. He stayed calm in order not to make the situation worse. But their parents took his silence as yes and started discussing about the marriage dates. Though his parents requested him to talk to Meghna in private, he rejected it considering his furious state. He does not want to vent out his anger with Meghna, who had zero contribution in this bride seeing drama. He took her mobile number and left the place.

Meghna who firmly believed marriage should be decided based on character, had fallen in love with Karthik the moment she saw him. She felt so loving, so tender and so overwhelming and a new feeling that she had not experienced before. Love at first sight does exist. We like a person at first glance, if they remind us of a person whom we admired from child hood or in past. Sometimes, it was believed that they meet our subconscious criteria. May be Meghna's inner voice might have suggested that he was her guy.!?
☕.☕.☕.
Shiva's anger rose to peak on hearing Meghna’s love affair.
“Do you think it’s not crazy to like a person in a first glance? How did you muster up the courage to spend the rest of your life under the arms of a stranger whom you have just seen for the first time?”
“Not once. I met him twice. The second time at coffee day” she tried to convince him.
“Fuck you… See Meghna. This is not fantasy world. Above all, I did not like the way he treated you at the coffee day.”
"Shiva, understand from his perspective. Who am I to him? I was just a stranger.. Annoyed stranger for him; His motive was only to stop the marriage. Why would he please me with sorry or kind words and actions? Think from his perspective. You might feel he was right.”
“Fine. Let him have an astonishing attitude. But Meghna, I feel it’s not right.”
“If a guy like a girl at first sight, he can proceed to make her understand about his love. How does it become wrong, when a girl does the same?”
“That’s how the world and people work. Not all guys take it with good spirit. When a guy knows a girl is behind him, there are chances of misusing her. Not all guys realize and accept the love. “
“What if Karthik was in second category. A guy who could realize my love”
“You are taking risk Meghna”, he sounded harsh.
“It has been almost 4 months. Still, I could not forget him. His thoughts keep pondering over and again. I am ready to take the risk. Please help me..”
"What's his mobile number?" Shiva asked pulling his mobile out of the pocket.
"I didn't save his number"
"Hmm.. Where does he work?"
Silence..
"Where does he stay?"
Again silence..
"Any clue about him?"
"I actually don’t know anything about him and I cant discuss or ask about Karthik with my parents now. Since he refused to marry me, the bitterness surged and they are in rage against Karthik and his family." She snapped.
Shiva was put under deep thoughts...

The Sound of Heart beat - chapter 1

Meghna rang the temple bell three times that caught the attention of the Hindu priest. The deity was embellished with jewellery and yellow color traditional wear. The priests lit the lamp to perform the arthi and Meghna was content as she was on time to the temple. She felt it as a sign that brings light into her life. She called out the priest and requested to do a special detailed puja in “his” name. Yes, she finally found her life partner. :) She was not conservative, but she preferred to be traditional when it comes to him. Hence, she wrote his name with his zodiac sign in a piece of paper and offered it to the priest along with the puja plate. Indeed she was too shy to say his name aloud.

"Karthik - Avittam, Meghna Ashwini...." the priest chanted some mantra in Sanskrit and Meghna came out after circumnavigating the temple. While slipping her feet into the soft cozy slippers, she observed a missed call from an anonymous number.
"It must be him, Karthick." She confirmed without giving another thought. She thought of calling him back after reaching her home to avoid all roadside disturbances and also to have some privacy. But she got a call again from the same number. Her heartbeat pounded so fast and her palm turned chill. It was an emotion mixed with excitement and nervousness. She answered the phone, and spoke to him for the first time.
"Hmm.. Meghna.." the voice from the other side was dulcet and melodious. No wonder, she was dumbstruck with his voice as well.
"Am I talking to Meghna?" Karthik repeated again since there was a long pause.
She tried to answer, but she could not speak.
"Yesssss.." She tried to say, but the only sound that came out was a hissing sound of a snake.
"Well, Karthick this side..."
On hearing the name, her soul felt the feeling of being in cloud nine. She wanted to pause and cherish this moment forever. All together she was experiencing a blissful feel that she never experienced in the past 23 years.
"Can we catch up sometime today?" asked Karthik. The very thought of meeting him drove her wild. She could manage to answer him only in a low, almost in a whispering mode. Karthik quoted the meeting place and disconnected the call.

Meghna had never spoken to anyone with so much tenderness. She liked him so much and her craziness towards him made her heart pulse race like cheetah and heads spin like the falcon. Her feelings towards him are so strong that she felt rejoiced and excited when she thought of him every now and then. Yet, she adored every bit of those pleasing excitements. But now she was worried about meeting him at the coffee day. For sure, on meeting him, her heart beat will pace fast, hands will freeze cold, and head will lurch. Somehow, she pulled courage to meet him. She went directly from temple with the Langa Voni she was wearing. As she opened the coffee day door, people over there shot an expression that was similar to the one people offer when a lady enters the temple with a bikini. She ignored the expression of the people, as her only intention was not to make Karthik wait.

After one hour of waiting, Karthik reached the venue. He was not bothered to ask sorry for making her wait so long, neither tried to give explanation for being late. Meghna's heart froze like an ice cave on seeing him.
"I just have 10 minutes. So, let me come straight away to the point" Karthik initiated the conversation and came straight to the point.  In fact, Meghna preferred him to start the conversation without formal preliminary pleasantries so that she would not get embarrassed. She was not so strong to look into his eyes, hence kept her focus on the table.
"Meghna.. I want to call off our marriage..." Karthik gave her news that made Meghna's heart stop for a while.(or long!?)

Smelly to Smiley

The most embarrassing and awkward situation any person would receive is a guest entering your home and they catches a bad Odors. The best part, they would be in turn very much embarrassed to pinpoint that they are getting some bad smell. Recently, I came across a similar situation and would like to share how I overcome.

It was about to rain. I was struck in a meeting and it will take another 3 hours to reach my home.  Just that day morning, I washed all my favorite costly dress and dried at terrace. I don’t want rain to wet my dress. So, I called my aunty who is living next door.
"Aunty, could you please take my clothes that I dried in terrace" She was happy to help me as I have helped her for the same several times. I was revealed, but immediately after 5 minutes, I got a call from her.
Rajini aunty said, "Ma, there are lot of clothes dried up in terrace. I am not able to find which one is yours"
I was speechless. I live in an apartment, where a family of 12 lives. Now and then, we all meet each other for Birthday parties. I suggested her to take all the clothes and disturbed it to the people later.  “Seems to be a good idea.” she agreed happily. But the time, she went rain started pouring cats and dogs and all the clothes got wet little.

It rained like hell. I reached home very late than usual, as I was struck at traffic. The plastic bags on the roads and streets were causing noisome smell due to heavy rain.
I collected my clothes from Rajini aunty and opened my house door. The unbearable stinky smell was still hitting my nose and I got into my house to get rid of it. I threw all my clothes on bed and went for a hot bath.
Even after that, I could odor an awful rotten smell. I went to kitchen to prepare dinner; there I saw the left overs of yesterday’s food that was forgotten to dispose. I disposed it with a relief of finding the reason for the bad odor. Since the odors were spread across the room, I still felt that stingy smell even after disposing.

Fortunately I had Lavender Aerosol Ambi Pur Air Freshener Spray at my home. It smells exactly like the Lavender and I sprayed it all over the room. The room smelled awe-inspiring.
I heard a calling bell, and when opened the room, I saw Padma aunty who came in to collect her clothes that was mixed with mine. At first she came in to thank for saving her clothes from rain, but on getting the lavender smell, she pitched in to room and was curious to know more about room air freshener
She saw the bottle spray and she was mesmerized by its cuteness. On hearing the price, ie 300 ml for just Rs. 140 she got excited and took rose flavor that I had extra.
